What Truly Matters This Chinese New Year

These days, I’ve been spending time in the hospital.
My mum is currently in the palliative care ward at St Luke's Hospital.
I’m truly impressed by the healthcare team’s dedication and thoughtfulness:

• They did not give up or scale down their care for my mum, even at this stage
• Instead, I continue to witness extra care in the smallest details
• From adding ear protectors and elbow protectors to prevent pressure wounds, knowing how difficult these are to heal in her condition
• Every detail centred on comfort and dignity, caring for her not just as a patient, but as a person

Their extra care and dedication truly warm my heart and I'm deeply touched.

In them, I see humanity, kindness, and compassion, respect for life right till the end, and care that goes beyond duty, expressed quietly, consistently, and sincerely.

The ward itself feels like a home away from home:
• Chinese New Year decorations thoughtfully put up
• Many activities organised for patients
• A space designed not just for treatment, but to feel like home, with warmth, care, and support

With Chinese New Year just days away, this experience reminds me to:
• Cherish the moments we have
• Be present with the people we love
• Never take “ordinary time” for granted

To the nurses and doctors,
Thank you for the humanity you bring when it matters most. 🙏
You have my deepest respect and admiration. ❤️

To everyone,

Wishing you and your family good health, peace, and warmth. Happy Chinese New Year! 🍊🍊
