Need a Boost? Choose to Be Positive – The First Step Toward Resilience

From rock bottom to global recognition — how choosing positivity helped me rise again 🌟 In support of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, I’m launching a special 4-part series sharing the heart and science behind my C.A.R.E. framework.

Part 1: Choose to Be Positive

It’s not about ignoring your struggles. It’s about choosing to rise — with intention.

Last week had been incredibly meaningful — from receiving a global award for my work in well-being mental health to witnessing the transformation of someone I recently coached. Both moments reminded me why my C.A.R.E. framework was born in the first place.

What do you do when life throws a storm your way?

Not just any storm — but the kind that turns your world upside down, the kind that you hit rock bottom.

That was my reality when I lost all my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes due to a severe alopecia areata, triggered by immense stress that I didn’t manage well.

I didn’t choose that to happen to me. But I chose how I responded.

Choose to Be Positive – The First Step Toward Resilience

It’s not that I suddenly became positive after my life turned upside down. I have always tried to stay positive. But when I lost all my hair to alopecia — my positivity was put to the ultimate test.

That experience forced me to walk the talk. I had to put everything I believed into practice. And it worked!

That’s why I speak about positivity with so much conviction. Through my alopecia journey, I developed the science-backed C.A.R.E. framework. It helped me rise through that adversity. And it’s helping others today to face challenges with positivity, resilience, and confidence.

Positivity isn’t about ignoring pain, struggles or setbacks. It means choosing not to let them define you.

It’s about making a decision — every day — to shift your energy toward what helps you grow, not what holds you back.

And this is the first step in my C.A.R.E. framework: C — Choose to be Positive

It starts with intention.

💡 Why "Choose to Be Positive" Comes First

“Choose to Be Positive” is the first element of my C.A.R.E. framework— because everything starts from your mindset.

  • Your mindset influences your behavior.

  • Your behavior shapes your results.

  • And your results, in turn, reinforce your mindset.

But here’s the truth:

Why Positivity Isn't Always Easy

We’re not naturally wired for positivity.

🧠 We have a built-in negative bias, evolved for survival. It helped our ancestors avoid danger and survive — but today?

It makes us dwell on what’s wrong instead of what’s right. It keeps us trapped in fear, doubt, and overthinking.

That’s why positivity isn’t just a feeling. It’s a conscious decision, a choice.

A practice. A way of living.

From Stuck to Empowered: How Choosing Positivity Sparked a Transformation

Of all the elements, the BIG problem I face is choosing to be positive.” V said.

“I find it very difficult to stay positive... and my quality of life is affected because of that.”

He has been following my posts. He read about my C.A.R.E. framework. But that one step — to choose positivity — felt too hard.

And that’s understandable. When life throws us into the dark, positivity can feel out of reach.

V has been unemployed for 6 months. Stressed. Drained. Battling waves of self-doubt, wondering, “Why is this happening to me?” “Will things ever turn around?”

But everything changed after one coaching session with me. He decided to shift his energy. To own his mindset. To show up with intention. And just days later, he’s had not one, but two job interviews.

In fact, the interviewer even commented on how positive his presence was. That’s not just luck. That’s deliberate mindset change. That’s powerful intention.

And that’s exactly why “Choose to be Positive” comes first in my C.A.R.E. framework. Because when you show up with intention, everything begins to shift.

🌟 3 Ways to Choose Positivity Daily:

1️⃣ Start Your Day With Intention

Ask yourself:→ “How do I want to show up today?”

Don’t wait to see how the day goes — decide first.

This small morning ritual sets your brain’s GPS for the day ahead.

2️⃣ Start With Empowering Language

The words you say to yourself shape how you feel. Begin your day with intentional phrases that set your tone:

• “I choose to respond, not react.”

• “I choose to see possibilities, not defeat.”

• “I choose to be positive when facing this challenge.”

We’ll go deeper into embracing positive self-talk in the “E” element later — this is just your daily mindset tune-up.

3️⃣ Curate Your Mental Diet

What you consume affects your mindset. Filter out the noise and nourish your mind with inspiring, grounded, and hopeful content.

You’re Not Alone

If you’re feeling stuck or like you’ve “lost yourself” along the way —You’re not alone. And you’re not broken.

Let’s talk about how to bring your power back — from the inside out.
