A Rare Coincidence, A Timeless Reminder

Yesterday was my English birthday.
Today is my Chinese birthday.
It feels like a special year because it’s rare for them to fall back-to-back.
We seldom pause to notice our lives.
That coincidence made me pause and reflect:
To honour time
To feel grateful for this life
To be present with where I am
At 46, I don’t wish for big things.
I feel more myself.
Less proving.
More choosing.
Less rushing.
More meaning.
And that already feels like enough.
Life, to me, is about living fully and with purpose.
This year, I’ll continue trying new things,
and doing the things that have lived quietly in my heart for years.
Not as goals or milestones.
But as acts of courage.
Acts of aliveness.
Because over time, I’ve come to appreciate this:
Regret rarely comes from failure.
It comes from not trying.
Too often, we wait for “someday.”
On this birthday, I’m reminded to:
Listen to what truly matters
Be brave when fear shows up
Be kind to myself along the way
Here’s to all of us: peace, joy, and meaning in the year ahead!
